Hypnotherapy

We are living in a decade where more and more people are searching for alternative answers to conventional ways of solving problems. Harold Broomfield, M.D., in his book Making Peace with Your Past, said, "The past lives on in everything you think, feel, say, and do." If you find yourself hanging on to what happened to you, feeling ashamed, resentful, disappointed, limited in some way or unable to break addictive behaviors - WHY? Because the past lives on in the subconscious. The subconscious is fully formed somewhere between 5-8 years of age or to use a computer term - programmed. And just like a computer program the subconscious indiscriminately stores everything you were told by parents, siblings, teachers, etc., including impressions, emotions (yours and others), and perceptions of what you saw, heard or felt. The subconscious from that point on only accepts information that supports its worldview about self, whether in reality the information is valid or not.

Its as if you are looking through a filter. So how does this affect your life? For example, say you want to make a change; it could be eating less or healthier, to stop smoking or to accept a new job, and instead you find yourself eating more, or smoking more or even sabotaging your chance for that new position. You find it difficult or even impossible, and why is that you might ask. It is because the change may not be within the scope of your beliefs or paradigm. So many people find themselves unable to make LASTING change. They are able to modify their behavior for a period of time and then fall back into old thought patterns and behaviors. And it is not a matter of WILLPOWER (and yes, willpower is important); it's the old tapes, programs, whatever you want to call them, that maybe stopping you. It is as if LIFE is like a 'Merry-Go-Round' you are on it - there are UPS and DOWNS - but you are always going around and around. Repeating the same actions over and over, never moving forward. Forward toward that DREAM that with each passing day seems to move further away.

So what does Hypnotherapy have to do with helping you get off the Merry-Go-Round? Hypnosis or Hypnotherapy is a method that can help you in focusing on your inner reality. Since, the conscious mind is very critical, with the aid of Hypnosis the conscious mind is suppressed and the unconscious minds focus of attention is narrower and the level of awareness on a focus of attention is much higher. The Hypnotherapist suggests and encourages the client to enter a trance or relaxed state of awareness. While in this state the subconscious mind is extraordinarily receptive to positive thoughts and suggestions. It is in this state that a client can experience changes in sensations, perceptions, thoughts, or behavior and influencing the body in ways that seem impossible in every day aware states. You can then move into that deeper part of you, releasing old fears and empowering yourself. People respond to hypnosis in different ways. Some describe it as a normal state of focused attention, in which they feel very calm and relaxed, similar to a meditative or prayerful state. Regardless of how and to what degree they respond, most people describe the experience as very pleasant.

All hypnosis is really self-hypnosis because you control what you tell and ask yourself. Everyone already has everything they need to be whole and complete. Integrative Hypnotherapy is a little bit different in that in addition to suggestions, there is a dialogue between the Hypnotherapist and the client. The Hypnotherapist and the client interactivity access the a wealth of information held in the subconscious regarding the beliefs, thoughts, and/or feeling that maybe preventing you from moving forward. In other words, getting off the 'Merry-Go-Round.' It has been said "that if what you're doing isn't working, do something/anything different." Hypnosis can help you achieve what you want to be, do, or have. It is miraculous.
